Houston is a big city (the country’s fourth largest to be exact), and there are so many amazing neighborhoods that make up the city, each with their own vibe and local flair. Our Montrose apartments are no different, being surrounded by some of the city’s best offerings.
Spend the Afternoon at the Park
Another thing about Houston – we are an active city. According to a report earlier this year on website WalletHub, Houston ranks 42 out of 100 in its annual list of the best and worst cities in America for active lifestyles. Sure, the entire city isn’t super active, but a majority is, and one of the best things about living at 2900 West Dallas are the nearby parks. Yes, plural.
All within a short distance of our Montrose apartments are three of the city’s best parks: Buffalo Bayou Park (which is walking distance), then you have Discovery Green, as well as Spotts Park between Memorial Drive and Waugh.
Our personal favorite is Buffalo Bayou Park of course, since we are located only a few steps away across from Memorial. One of the country’s great urban green spaces, Buffalo Bayou Park is packed with 160-acres stretching from Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street, near downtown Houston. It’s one of Houston’s most popular and fit-friendly spots complete with running and bike trails, beautiful downtown skyline views, the stairs to take your cardio up a notch and more.
Of course it’s a dog-friendly park with plenty of space to plan a picnic lunch. Speaking of picnics, we are directly next door to Whole Foods Market Montrose (the intersection of Waugh Drive and West Dallas), so it’s incredibly easy to walk next door and grab a few premade dishes or sandwiches, maybe a beer or bottle of wine and walk across Memorial Drive for a picnic. Many of our residents take advantage of this local and convenient perk, especially on those bright, sunny Houston days (before the triple digit summertime temperatures hit).
Buffalo Bayou Park also extends to The Lee & Joe Jamail Skatepark, a free and open-to-the-public 30,000-square-foot-in-ground facility as well as the ever-popular two-acre Johnny Steele Dog Park. Located at Allen Parkway and Montrose Boulevard, the dog park has a pond, shade structures, drinking fountains and more. And did we already mention that our Houston luxury apartments are incredibly pet-friendly?
Montrose Apartments are a Brunch-lovers Paradise
If you’re a fan of brunch and looking for the hottest and tastiest spots, Houston has a long list you’ll want to check out, but one of our personal favorites is The Dunlavy, which is an ornately decorated glass house, 1.5 miles from our Montrose apartment community.
Overlooking Buffalo Bayou and Lost Lake Houston, this hot spot is an order-at-the-counter casual atmosphere serving some of Houston’s best dishes. Only open for breakfast and lunch, this Montrose eatery is known for their fresh menu, which features ingredients from their own garden. Plus, who doesn’t want to dine in a picture-perfect glass house with friends? The Dunlavy (and their evening private event space) is located at 3422 Allen Parkway.
Close to Sports
Thanks to our central and convenient location, sports fans are never far from the action. Choose from hundreds of Houston sports bars or head down to Minute Maid Park (MMP) to catch a baseball game during the season. Located 3.3 miles from Minute Maid Park, it’s an easy drive or ride share away from all the action on the diamond. Being close to downtown Houston also means you’re not far from catching a Houston Rockets game either. 2900 West Dallas is only 2.2 miles from the Toyota Center, so whether you’re into sports or music, you’re close to all the downtown action.
If you’re looking for a new Montrose apartment, we invite you to schedule a private tour by visiting us at 2900 West Dallas or calling one of our expert leasing agents at 281.688.6478. Don’t forget to ask about our current leasing specials.
