The Montrose neighborhood is one you have to experience to understand. It’s eclectic, it’s unique, it’s downright local. And what’s a local vibe and neighborhood without a huge selection of local coffee shops? And you’re in luck because one thing Montrose has no shortage of is unique, Instagram-worthy and delicious coffee shops.

Here are a few of our favorite local coffee shops – don’t worry – they are all super close to our Montrose apartments, making it easier than ever to swing by for a coffee, a quick meeting or spend some quality time checking out your new neighborhood. (And don’t forget, our Houston luxury apartments offer complimentary coffee so you don’t have to leave home if you don’t want to!) You can also walk directly across the street to Montrose Whole Foods for a quick coffee that is just as good as the ones below. It may not have as much of a local vibe to it, but you sure can’t beat the convenience!

Our favorite Montrose Houston coffee shops:

Agora is probably the most popular Montrose coffee shop, not to mention most historic, which can be seen just from the outside. This two-story building has an “artistically inspiring atmosphere” that serves delectable coffee and cocktails, situated near the corner of Dunlavy and Westheimer. Enjoy European delicacies, gourmet coffee and day and evening crowds fit for co-working or just hanging out.

Inversion Coffee & Art is on Montrose Blvd. offering a small and incredibly quaint spot for getting work done over coffee or tea. “Inversion Coffee House is a meeting ground for artists, art lovers, neighbors, friends and visitors. Stop by anytime for our artistically inspired brew and a tempting array of hearty snacks, artisan-baked pastries, and other indulgent offerings,” according to their website.

Black Hole Coffee House on Graustark Street is a popular, yet somewhat hidden spot in Montrose. Grab an indoor or outdoor table for hanging out and snack on something from the food truck outside or a locally made quiche or other small bites. The parking lot is small, but you’ll find plenty of street parking, like many Montrose spots.

Brasil is one of the longest-running bars/restaurants in Montrose and is on the corner of Dunlavy and Westheimer. Here they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with plenty of seating, including their back patio, that many visitors seem to miss. The coffee and lattes are amazing here and it’s a top favorite for Montrose residents.

Common Bond is your go-spot if you have a sweet tooth, because their cookies and bakery options are some of the best in Houston. Located on the corner of Dunlavy and Westheimer, this Montrose shop has been around since 2014.

FIX Coffeebar offers tasty and Instagram-worthy seasonal selections that are all worth checking out. Try something unique like a Blueberry Hibiscus Tea, Cinnamon Plum Tea, Smoked Rosemary Cortado or breakfast taco. It’s a small and quaint spot and parking here is pretty tight, but worth the visit.
